"You Made Me the Speaker I've Always Wanted to Be!"

January 30, 2002

Dear Nan,

Hello! I am excited to share that my first presentation on Resiliency was a smashing success! I want to thank you for preparing me [in last December's Training of Trainers in San Diego] with the tools and knowledge to present such a great presentation.

It was my very first time presenting anything, so I was quite nervous, but everything turned out much smoother than I had anticipated. I am now looking at a few things I know I can improve on for next time, but truly, I wanted to let you know how grateful I am to you for sharing your knowledge with us and for giving us license to utilize your overheads, handouts, articles, etc.

Also, just so you know how thrilled I am....I want to share this, too...I have wanted to be a presenter for about 5-6 years.....and just two years ago, I coordinated an excellent workshop, but I still didn't feel satisfied, and I knew it was because I wasn't presenting.......so now I have! and now I know that I CAN continue, and it's so uplifting to hear feedback from the participants. I can't thank you enough for giving me the push I needed to get up and present. And that 'push' consisted of your high expectation that all of us at that training could do it, you gave us the tools, and the perfect outline and design.

Now I know HOW to design a presentation, and I can see myself 'doing it' much more clearly than before. I am just SO excited and grateful to you because presenting has been one of my dreams! Hats off to you, Nan, for embodying what you teach! Thank you!!!

P.S. On my drive to work this morning, I was remembering that we had attended the training in December, after Sept. 11th, and I was feeling grateful that you were out there showing us how to"be" and find our own resilience! A few teachers came up to me after my presentation and said: "Thank you! you did a great job, and we *really* needed to hear this!" "Hey, I 'm resilient, because I'm alive!"

I have faith that this stuff really DOES work....I've seen a few kids in my school already turn around, and I do think it has to do with the positive messages I've been giving them.

Nan, when you present, and do your TOT's, your integrity shines through, and your understanding of everything (love of life and sharing information...connectedness) really speaks for itself....when we got there and you were going over the training manual and all its' components, I looked at my co-worker, and we said "She's COOL! She is SO cool! She really GETS IT! YES!" You ARE a gift to us all. Don't give up!! Educators need more trainers like YOU! because you really do care!
